Enabling people to be their best
Through the Onward Community Fund, we have gone beyond housing by granting over £43.9k to 23 local projects across Greater Manchester and Cheshire East since March last year. For further details about how you could get support, please email socialinvestment@onward.co.uk.
Providing homes our customers love
We are working with Manchester City Council on their Rightsizing, Resettlement and Housing First initiatives, which aim to provide homes for those in need.
Since April last year, we have made improvements to our existing homes across Greater Manchester and Cheshire East, including 300 new kitchens, 320 new bathrooms, 106 new roofs, 628 new doors and 136 new boilers. We have also installed new windows in 324 homes and improved the insulation of 46 homes.
Creating places people are proud of
Following a neighbourhood inspection in Handforth with local Councillors and Police, we removed fly tipping, addressed vehicles parked on pavements and arranged for ivy to be removed from homes.
When customers at Steven Court told us about issues with waste management, we worked with them to design a new bin store and raised awareness of how to keep their scheme clean.
‘Sow the City’ transformed the communal garden at our Oaklands Extra Care scheme in Fallowfield, with customers now looking after planters full of plants and vegetables. A customer living at the scheme told us they “had a wonderful time getting to know each other” whilst “creating a beautiful garden to relax in and enjoy”.
